In time for the anniversary of the coup in Honduras, four Portland activists will travel to the country to conduct a radio project about the resistance.  Their time in Honduras will be part of a broader project to confront US intervention and militarism in Central America.

Below please find Rachael's report from her trip to Honduras last year and Allen's appeal letter for the work we will do in Nicaragua and El Salvador later in the trip. This regional approach will allow us to build our contacts in the region while remaining active in the day-to-day struggles of allies we've already made in Honduras.

Portland native and PCASC-volunteer Rachael Townsend recently spent 8 months in Honduras, living and working with rank-and-file union activists and campesino organizers, who are part of the united front.

Allen is a journalist whose work has appeared in several newspapers and magazines, as well as NPR affiliate WKSU. He is a member of PCASC.  He has also worked with veterans’ rights and antiwar groups for five years. Oh yeah – he was born with cerebral palsy.

If you enable your images you can see this handome photo of Allen.

Read Allen's appeal, "Why Central America? Why Now?"

"Keeping campesinos and indigenous peoples poor allows a few rich people to maintain their wealth and power. So does accepting US military aid to expand the war on drugs. This is the situation in Central America. Starting with this reality and taking direction from our compañeros in Central America, we will add our individual skills to our shared fight for justice."

Meet the whole crew and check out the blog.
