Veterans to City Council: Let’s create more low cost rest areas like Right 2 Dream Too for people who are houseless
February 25, 2013–Portland, OR –This Wednesday at 9:30am members of a veterans group will propose the creation of new rest areas to serve people who are houseless to Portland City Council. At 9:30am Wade Varner, Jason Kersten, and Karl Schave, members of Homeless Against Homelessness in America (H.A.H.A.), are scheduled to speak at the regular city council meeting at City Hall. The three veterans will lay out their plans for more services in Portland modeled on Right 2 Dream Too and Dignity Village.
“We support H.A.H.A.’s proposals for more rest areas in the City of Portland, “ says Ibrahim Mubarak, who helped start Right 2 Dream Too. “The need is there. We often have to turn people away because Right 2 Dream Too is full.”
H.A.H.A. supporters from Right 2 Survive and Right 2 Dream Too plan to march from the Right 2Dream Too site at NW 4th and Burnside to City Hall starting at 8:30am. There will be a rally with speakers from all three organizations in front of City Hall before the Council meeting.
