Join the Portland Solidarity Network in Delivering a Demand Letter this Friday, March 22nd!
Meet in the Parking Lot at NE MLK and Russel St. at 1:30 PM.
This Friday, the Portland Solidarity Network will join a local
tenant, Sean, in presenting a letter to his landlord demanding the
withdrawal of a series of unwarranted and outrageous late fees. We need
you to be there to support Sean and make a strong showing so we can make
it clear that the community will fight back when landlords try to rip
off their tenants.
When Sean initially moved into his house last year, his landlord
told him he could pay rent on the fifth. For several months, Sean did
just that, only to find out that he was being charged expensive late
fees totaling almost $800. After talking to Sean and hearing his story,
it became clear that his landlord was trying to cheat him out of
hundreds of dollars. This type of exploitation happens all the time, but
the Portland Solidarity Network is dedicated to using direct action to
fight back against greedy bosses and landlords. However, the only way
these direct action campaigns can be successful is if our allies in the
community can mobilize in support of their fellow workers and tenants.
After gathering at the parking lot, we will march together to the
offices of Sean’s landlord, where we will present his demand letter.
This won’t take a lot of your time, but even this brief action is
extremely meaningful, so come out this Friday and help us demand tenant
justice!

BREAKING NEWS AT THE ALLIANCE:
SYSTEM GRAVELY BROKEN:
RESPONSES TO CHASSE DISCIPLINE REVERSAL
The two officers who had been disciplined in the brutal beating death of James Chasse, Jr. were ordered to have their
records expunged and back payments made for the 80 hours each was suspended.
As long as we continue without police accountability in Portland,
avoidable killings of innocent people will continue.
