Revolutionary Moments…

usuncutRonnie Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Jon Ellis (JEB) Bush and Bernie Sanders are ALL on the same page when it comes to Gaza, wars of choice, capitalism and the military-industrial complex.

If you want more war, then vote for the corporate core:  Republicans support the Fortune 500 and brag about it…  and the Democrats support the same cons and used to lie about it.  But this week, Obama and the Democrats threw us under the bus.  checkout the rest:

Salt and Terror in Afghanistan

by Kathy Kelly

In late January in a room in Kabul, Afghanistan, I joined several dozen people, working seamstresses, some college students, socially engaged teenagers and a few visiting internationals like myself, to discuss world hunger. Our emphasis was not exclusively on their own country’s worsening hunger problems. The Afghan Peace Volunteers, in whose home we were meeting, draw strength from looking beyond their own very real struggles.

Hello! We're sorry this issue is a week late, but our server went down, we had to restore the entire site (nearly 7 Gigabites). We may not have everything back until the October Issue, but will post critical articles on the Front Page

Labor Day!

“All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance
and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Mike KIng)

“A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life
depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself
in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving.”
Albert Einstein

“Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.” – Ovid

Taking Action Against War In Washington, DC This September

By World Beyond War
Photo by National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance

For our planet, the war-ravaged, and the poor we will sow the seeds of hope for peace.
Guided by conscience, reason, and deeply held convictions, we call upon people of good will to come to Washington, DC on Tuesday September 22, 2015 to actively participate in a witness of nonviolent civil resistance calling on Congress and the White House to take meaningful action as we confront the climate crisis, the unending wars, the root causes of poverty, and the structural violence of the military-security state. There will be an occupation of a Congressional office, followed by direct action at the White HousePhoto by National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance.
Come together to save Mother Earth!

End our wars!

End poverty by using money for jobs, education, infrastructure, and the poor!

End structural violence!

And we must hold our police departments accountable when they abuse the community by beating, abusing and executing innocent community members.  No fear, no compromise and no surrender!

There will be an occupation of a Congressional office and direct action at the White House.

UNITED AGAINST TERRORISM MARCH ON WASHINGTON

The Midway at Burning Man2015 Burning Man Carnival of Mirrors

Old-fashioned carnivals were dominated by an all-pervading hucksterism; midways featured barkers, shills, rigged games of chance and skill, and not infrequently defrauded customers — “short change” is a carny term. They also featured titillating freak shows, geek acts and museums of the outré and forbidden. Our midway, on the other hand, will satirize deception while inviting all participants to summon up their inner geek, that secret freak who hides behind the mask of what is called normality. We will turn grifting into gifting; otherness becomes creative self-expression.  Man base design by Larry Harvey and Andrew Johnstone. Illustration by Andrew Johnstone with Hugh D’Andrade.

Do you feel minimum? What is minimum? The dictionary defines it as "the least possible amount." Is that the amount of money you should be making at work? I don't feel like a "minimum." And I don't like the term. Do you? How about the term decent wage? Or how about livable wage? All of these terms are confusing as all things in life are relative. What is a livable wage? When Donald Trump famously went bankrupt one of several times years back, the banks determined that he needed $30,000 a month to live on at his current and accustomed lifestyle. Donald DuPay doesn't need quite that much money to live on comfortably. I like the term decent wage the most. It seems more realistic and fairer, somehow.  Read the rest of this piece:

http://www.ThePortlandAlliance.org/blacklivesmatterState of the Black Union

A new Black Panther documentary is about to hit theaters nationwide. And that's a good thing, because Americans generally doesn't wake up to anything unless they see it in a movie first.

In this light, check out this free documentary on the life and death of Fred Hampton, leader of the Illinois Black Panther Party who was murdered by Chicago police on Dec. 4, 1969 in collusion with the FBI's COINTEL program. Peoria Black Panther leader Mark Clark was also killed by police in that infamous raid.
